Nine 3-year-old fillies go postward looking for their first grade I win in the Acorn Stakes, a one-turn mile at Belmont.
1. Casanova Move (Langfuhr-Casanova Junction, by Pleasant Colony): Ran third in the Black Eyed Susan Stakes the day before the Preakness.
2. Gabby’s Golden Gal (Medaglia d’Oro- Gabriellina Giof, by Ashkalani): Romped in the Sunland Park Oaks, then went to the Kentucky Oaks, where she set the pace before Rachel Alexandra blew by her as though she were chained to the rail.
3. Be Fair (Exchange Rate- Go Donna Go, by Wild Again): Wayne Lukas trainee has been tangling with the best in the country, running fourth in the Ashland behind Hooh Why and Stardom Bound, and fourth in the Kentucky Oaks after that.
4. Funny Moon (Malibu Moon- Fun Crowd, by Easy Goer): Is making just her fourth lifetime start, but she looked good winning an allowance race authoritatively here last time out.
5. Doremifasollatido (Bernstein- Consider It Done, by Green Dancer): Notched a strong win in the grade I Matron here last fall, but then ran poorly on the synthetic surface in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. She was second in her comeback here, the listed Fall Aspen last time out.
6. Livin Lovin (Birdstone- Nurse Margaret, by Captain Bodgit): Won the grade III Tempted last November at Aqueduct, but she’s making her 2009 debut.
7. Dream Play (Hennessy- Playcaller, by Saratoga Six): Front-running filly won the Comely at Aqueduct in mid-April.
8. Justwhistledixie (Dixie Union- General Jeanne, by Honour and Glory): Put together a five-race win streak this winter and spring, including the grade II Bonnie Miss and Davona Dale. She was the second favorite in the Kentucky Oaks behind Rachel Alexandra, but scratched only hours before the race with a stone bruise and has been pointing for this since. A mile is right around her best distance. She hasn’t been out of the money in seven lifetime starts, and began her career with a win at Belmont last fall.
9. Four Gifts (Even The Score- Agiftfromservice, by Service Stripe): Won the Eight Belles Stakes on Derby Day.
